Upcycling partnerships and regenerating unused resources
We partner with food and ingredient manufacturers to co-develop upcycled food ingredients tailored to their target functional properties. Backed by extensive experience in collaborative R&D and expertise in utilizing more than 100 types of underutilized resources, we support the creation of high-value ingredients from untapped biomass and food industry by-products. From scale-up validation and pilot production to commercial manufacturing, we provide comprehensive support throughout the commercialization process.
Targeted Challenges
Co-development Roadmap
We provide one-stop support from the development of upcycled food ingredients to commercialization. Each phase is conducted under a separate agreement, allowing projects to progress step by step. Timelines and costs vary depending on project scope and requirements.
Phase 0 consultation
Needs Assessment & Project Planning
We begin by understanding your underutilized resources and target ingredients, then work together to define the development scope and objectives. A development agreement is established before moving into the co-development phase.
Phase 1Feasibility & Optimization
Microorganism Selection & Fermentation Trials
We design and evaluate saccharification and fermentation processes tailored to the target upcycled ingredient. Development is guided by key indicators such as aroma and flavor profiles, functional properties, and target compound yields.
Process Optimization
We optimize fermentation and manufacturing conditions by evaluating critical process parameters and quality specifications with future commercial production in mind.
Phase 2 Pilot Production
Scale-up & Pilot Manufacturing
We conduct scale-up trials and pilot production to validate manufacturing feasibility. With our own production facility in Iwate, Japan, we provide seamless support from ingredient development through pilot-scale manufacturing.
Phase 3 Commercial Manufacturing
Contract Manufacturing & Licensing
Based on our partner’s business needs, we offer contract manufacturing at our production facility or support commercial production through technology licensing and implementation at the partner’s manufacturing site.
